Description: This contemporary Kufic calligraphy painting is inspired by a poem by the Iranian poet Sohrab Sepehri, beginning:
«پشت دریاها شهری است که در آن پنجرهها رو به تجلی باز است»
“Beyond the seas, there is a city whose windows open toward revelation.”
The canvas is completely filled with words and letterforms transformed into Kufic-style structures, creating a dense and continuous field of blue calligraphy. The repetition of the letters turns the poem into a visual landscape, where writing becomes texture, rhythm, and movement.
The monochromatic blue composition evokes the imagery of the sea and the distant city described in Sepehri’s poem. Rather than presenting the verse only as readable text, the work transforms Persian poetry into an abstract visual structure, connecting contemporary Kufic calligraphy with ideas of distance, discovery, and imagination.
