Description: This black-and-white Kufic calligraphy painting depicts a window and its shadow falling onto the ground. Inspired by the architectural windows and coloured light of the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque in Shiraz, the work explores the relationship between light, architecture, and the act of opening oneself to possibility.
The window is constructed from a single Kufic letter, repeatedly transformed and deformed to create an architectural structure. The letter moves beyond its linguistic function and becomes part of the space itself. Against the black background, the white window and its shadow create a strong contrast, suggesting the passage of light from an interior space into the world beyond.
The title refers to the possibility of light being present at the threshold: when the door is opened, the light can enter and reveal the path ahead. Here, Kufic calligraphy becomes architecture, while the window becomes a metaphor for openness, choice, and transformation.
