Using a selection of Iranian and Syrian ceramics from the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum Collection, this workshop invites participants to explore the beauty and complexity of Arabic and Persian calligraphy.
Led by artist Somayeh Gholami, the session introduces the fundamentals of the Arabic alphabet and the principles of calligraphic construction in styles such as Persian and Kufic.
A practical and creative experience, it reveals how writing became both an art form and a symbol of cultural identity in the Islamic world.
Workshop materials are provided by the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.
